sam yoon running for boston mayor

After months of not-so-secret behind-the-scenes moving and shaking, it's happening: City Councilor Sam Yoon is running for mayor of Boston: Yoon announces candidacy for mayor.

The two-term at-large city councilor called Mayor Thomas M. Menino and City Councilor Michael Flaherty, who also is running, to tell them of his plans. That's right, fools. There's going to be an Asian American candidate on the ballot.

Yoon, who is the city's first Asian American councilor, would be Boston's first non-white chief executive. He hasn't actually made the official announcement, but expect to hear a lot more about this soon.
