shih kien, r.i.p.

While the death of David Carradine made headlines everywhere stateside yesterday, showbiz lost another Bruce Lee-related personality on the other side of the world. Veteran Hong Kong actor Shih Kien died this week of kidney failure. He was 96: Veteran actor Shek Kin dies.

Shih, also known as Shek Kin, began acting in the 1940s and first became famous for his roles as the main villain in old school classics of the black and white wuxia era. However, modern Western audiences probably know him as the villainous Han in 1973's Enter the Dragon, starring Bruce Lee.

It's probably one of my favorite movies, and the badassness Han is half the fun. Han's island martial arts tournament. The maze of mirrors. The Claw. It's all freaking awesome. Rest in peace, Shih Kien. More here: Kung fu star 'Bad Guy Kin' - loses his final battle at 96.
