teens arrested in possible hate crime robbery

Some news out of Canada... Police have arrested four young people accused of shouting racial slurs at and robbing a group of South Asian men who were playing tennis in Aldergrove, a suburb of Vancouver: Hate crime unit assists Aldergrove robbery investigation.

The suspects, between 15 and 19 years old, forced their way into the tennis courts and intimidated the victims with "race-based obscenities and threats" until they were backed into a corner. One of the suspects threw a fence board at the group, hitting one of them in the head, then robbed them and fled.

Police have recommended charges against the four suspects, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats. The investigation is still ongoing, with the British Columbia hate crime unit coming in to assist investigators. Need I say it? That's racist!
