The Los Angeles Times recently asked author Lisa See to write about Los Angeles' Chinatown and the relationship between the neighborhood and her own work. She says her sixth novel, Shanghai Girls, couldn't have been written if not for the fondness and experience she has her neighborhood, Chinatown: For Lisa See, Los Angeles' Chinatown was always like stepping into her past.
