radio conversation on suicide and asian americans

Another interesting, important discussion on Asian American students and the possible higher risk for suicide, this time on WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show: Asian American Students at Risk?

The show's guests are Andrew Lam, editor at New America Media and the author of Perfume Dreams: Reflections on the Vietnamese Diaspora, and Peter Yee, president of NY Coalition for Asian Mental Health and assistant executive director of Behavioral Health Services at Hamilton Madison House in Manhattan.

They discuss whether cultural pressures for extreme achievement played a role in the suicides of three Asian American Cal Tech students in recent months, as well as recent statistics that reveal a higher risk for suicide among Asian American women.
