shawne merriman arrested for assaulting tila tequila

Whoa. San Diego Chargers star outside linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested and accused of choking and restraining his girlfriend, reality TV star Tila Tequila, as she tried to leave his home: Merriman arrested after girlfriend's call.

Tequila, aka Tila Nguyen, signed a citizen's arrest warrant charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment. San Diego County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance call early this morning from a woman saying she was choked and thrown to the ground when she tried to leave his house.

Merriman was taken into custody this morning and booked into the central jail, then released shortly afterwards. Tequila was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately available. I know I haven't been kind to Tila Tequila in the past -- I find her "career" fairly repulsive. But she definitely doesn't deserve to be choked and abused by anyone. Not cool, and that's all I'm really going to say about it.
