angry reader of the week: liliana chen

Hey! Here we are again. Time for another Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's reader is Liliana Chen, hailing from New York City.

Who are you?
Pop culture and political junky. Social commentator. Proud auntie to Jakoub!

What are you?
A force to be reckoned with. Oh, you mean ethnic background? Taiwanese American (via Argentina), in other words, just American.

Where are you?
New York City, capital of the world. (Yeah, eff you back)

Where are you from?
Born in Taiwan, raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a but now a life-long New Yorker.

What do you do?
PR, Special Events and Producing. I am a media, event planning and producing consultant and proprietor of eLcie Media Services. I work with corporate, entertainment, non-profit, and culinary clients. My other focus is running, Project by Project, a non-profit organization of social entrepreneurs dedicated to serving the Asian American community through increased volunteerism, raising awareness and fundraising. However, I must admit I do a lot of media consumption, which takes up most of my free time... that is, when I am not eating, drinking and karaoking.

What are you all about?
Belief in the power of one. How one voice can effect change. I may not be able to change the world but I can improve my world.

What makes you angry?
Apathy. Lack of compassion. Ignorance. Racism. Self-entitlement. Inconsideration. Injustice. Incompetence. Religious hypocrites. Asian Americans who don't think racism exists. Asian Americans who don't give back to the Asian American community. Asian Americans who don't realize they are Asian American. Asian Americans who don't want to be associated with other Asian Americans. Asian Americans who don't realize or appreciate that we all stand on the shoulders of those who fought the good fight and paved the way, and that the opportunities they have today was made possible by those who came become us and were denied the same. People who don't volunteer or donate to charitable organizations. People who live comfortably but stand in the way of others getting a fair shake at a piece of the pie. Businesses that screw consumers. Health Care reform opponents and those idiotic Tea Party people. Credit Card companies and their abusive practices. Birthers. Climate change deniers. 9/11 conspiracy theorist. People who throw the word "socialist" around for anything that is a public service plan. And random aholes like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Bachman, and Sarah Palin (but she is more of a joke than an ahole). But what really makes me angry is when someone gets angry about something and then says, "Hey Lil, you should do something about it." No, you should.
