For those of you in the Bay Area, you want to mark your calendar for a really cool benefit concert on December 19: Home for the Holla Days, a night of music and activism to move your soul and a cause to move your heart. It's all to bring awareness and fight the injustice of human trafficking, especially of children.
The concert will feature Magnetic North, Vudoo Soul, Geunjin, Taiyo Na and Denizen Kane, all backed by the Home:word House Band, making their debut performance and consisting of, according to Theresa of Magnetic North, "the most bad ass asian musicians we've ever seen."
All proceeds will benefit the Vietnam-based organization Aid for Children Without Parents' "Saving Children in Crisis" program. Some more info about the event:
Home for the Holla DaysI'm a fan of all these artists -- this is going to be a great show, benefiting a great cause. Note the date, grab some friends, and get your tickets now! For more information about the charity and all the artists, and to purchase tickets to the show, visit the Home for the Holla Days website here.
On this night we honor HOME for hella reasons:
(1) Most of these artists are coming HOME to the Bay for this concert - what up what up!
(2) We are building a HOME for our Asian American community through the arts
(3) Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the HOMELAND
(4) Most importantly, we aim to help ACWP bring these children back home
So bring your family, your friends, and EVERYONE you know. There's no better way to celebrate the holidays than by rocking out to fresh music, eating delicious traditional Vietnamese food, and building a stronger APIA community committed to justice. 'Tis the season for giving - come join us!
