Uh oh. Get yourself ready for another Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is comedian Danny Cho.
Who are you?
I am the loud-mouth, crass guy at the bar that women find appalling. I offend people both on stage and on videos.
What are you?
I used to be an obedient son with a "good" job but now I am just that dude that comes to visit every now and again and eats their food.
Where are you?
I am at my office in Ktown LA (cafe Mak). It's raining here and I am not too pleased about that.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, My family was the only non Hispanic people in the district.
What do you do?
I am a stand up comedian. I travel the country and try to entertain as many people as possible. Lots of times, I just shock the hell out of them and eventually quite of few of them send me hate mail. I am also a writer. I recently wrote a script called Ktown Cowboys. We filmed it and will be released sometime in early march. It's a story about boys being boys on a typical night out in Korea Town LA. Think Entourage meets Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Also, I am writing my first book Tales of a Scumbag. It's a collection of stories about my life that shaped who I am today. You can find some of the stories on my website www.dannycho.com.
What are you all about?
I am all about being me. I feel that a lot of times, people have some pre-set view of what an Asian American entertainer should be like. I feel that there shouldn't be a mold. We need to have degenerates as well as great people. I tend to be more on the degenerate side. I am all about getting on stage and being completely myself. I don't pull punches. I used to work as a business consultant while doing stand up on the side. Eventually, something that was just a hobby, turned into more of a passion and I quit my job after 3 years. Although I am definitely at a lower tax bracket, I enjoy what I do.
What makes you angry?
I have a lot of things that make me angry. Here is a brief list:
*Namedroppers - Being in the entertainment business, I have realized that this phenomenon happens frequently. I think name dropping is very d-bag status. At least that is what Conan told me.
*Traffic
*People that ask me to tell them a joke once they find out I do stand up. I want to punch them square in their taints
*Sloppy Drunks. Nothing is more of a bonerkill than a girl that is a sloppy drunk.
