All right, Bay Area friends. Mark your calendar for another edition of MATCHA, the Asian Art Museum's bi-monthly art/music/mixer event: The Shanghai Dress, showcasing the work of designer and entrepenuer Jane Zhu. It's happening Thursday, June 3 at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Here's some more information:
MATCHA: The Shanghai DressWant to win free tickets? The Asian Art Museum is giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky, randomly drawn winner. All you have to do is email asianartmuseumsf@gmail.com by Tuesday morning, June 1, with the subject line "I wanna see qipao fashion at MATCHA." You'll be contacted if you win.

Inspired by the stylish, sophisticated form-fitting qipao dress that emerged in 1920s Shanghai, this MATCHA showcases the work of designer Jane Zhu. She has studied the art of qipao patternmaking and construction from master tailors, and is celebrated for her modern, made-to-order qipao. Zhu has been featured in Vogue, Elle China, and more. She'll share her designs in a fashion show and give a talk on the history and craftsmanship of these iconic dresses. Everyone is encouraged to show up in their finest qipao! Also: make your own traditional Chinese button or design a ready-to-wear pinback button, engage a docent in Shanghai, hang out with friends over cocktails, and enjoy music spun by the energizing DJ Quantum! Participate in a free raffle drawing for prizes such as Lonely Planet books and a Namu restaurant gift certificate.
