stanford men's volleyball wins ncaa championship

Over the weekend, Stanford University's No. 1 seed men's volleyball team swept No. 3 seed Penn State to win the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship -- its first national title since 1997. Stanford won 30-35, 30-20, 30-18: BREAKING: Men's volleyball wins national title.

Pretty awesome, considering that just three years ago, the Cardinal suffered through a 3-25 season. Worst to first!

All this happened with big help from senior setter Kawika Shoji, who was named Division I-II National Player of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association last week at the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship Banquet: Kawika Shoji named National Player of the Year.

Shoji, who had 47 assists and 10 digs, shared a NCAA Most Outstanding Player honor with sophomore Brad Lawson. More here: Stanford captures national title. And here: Inspired by late assistant coach, Stanford wins NCAA men's volleyball title.
