Things in the courtroom got heated as Nguyen's brother yelled at Siackasorn during the sentencing, and had to be restrained by deputies:
Sacramento County Judge Cheryl Chun Meegan sentenced 19-year-old Jimmy Siackasorn to life without the possibility of parole for the 2007 death of Sacramento County Sheriff's Detective Vu Nguyen.Siackasorn, who was 16 when he shot Nguyen, apparently showed no remorse or emotion when he was sentenced. Nguyen's brother erupted in court calling Siackasorn the "poster boy for abortion". He yelled over and over "look at me" to Siackasorn and had to be restrained by deputies.
The defense had argued that because Siackasorn was only 16-years-old at the time of the crime, it would be "cruel and unusual punishment" to sentence him to life without the possibility of parole.
But Judge Meegan denied the request saying Siackasorn has shown no remorse and is even proud of the murder. The judge also called the 37-year-old victim "a true hero."
