Michael Chih Ming Hornbuckle and Peter J. Wong of the Asian American sketch comedy group 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors are working on a new short comedy digital project... "The type of comedy you normally don't see Asian Americans in." But of course, they need some money to make it happen. That's where you come in.
They're putting the call out for some cash money backing, and need to raise a total of $5000 by Friday, August 13. Here's the lowdown on Kickstarter: Asian American comedy short for Sundance! Think "Borat: meets Wong Kar-Wai! Here's the project synopsis:
If you loved the outrageousness of "Borat," and the heart of "There's Something about Mary" then you'll love "Super Duper…(etc.)!" Our heroes, Cherry Blossom, Hung Wei Low, and Fred (real names have been changed to protect the innocent), work as hosts in a host club. They do all the things that hosts do: entertain guests, drink with guests, sing with guests. But Helen, a social worker, thinks the host club is nothing but a glorified brothel. And she's right. What would drive three respectable middle-aged Asian American men to work in such a sleazy setting? What would drive them to sell their bodies for money? What sort of insane women would actually BUY their bodies for money? Laughs are outrageous and a mile a minute as the story unfolds in a blazing 15 minutes! Can these poor men be rescued from lives of sexual exploitation?Maybe you've got some extra cash to spare. Maybe you want to help a couple of folks make some outrageous comedy craziness.
