Just wanted to throw out some support for our friends Lisa Lee and Melissa Hung, Publisher and Founder of Hyphen who are currently in the running as Reader's Choic finalists for 7x7's Hot 20 Under 40, celebrating San Francisco's "20 most up-and-coming movers and shakers under 40."
1. Lisa Lee and Melissa Hung, Publisher and Founding Editor of Hyphen MagazineThey could use your vote! Lisa and Melissa have cracked the top twenty. Think we can get them into the Top 10? The next round of voting closes this Thursday, August 5. Vote for them here (your browser must be JavaScript-enabled). For more information, go to the Hyphen blog here.
Hyphen Magazine is one of the most influential Asian American publications in the country, featuring stories from Asian American culture, arts and politics, many of them right here in San Francisco. Lisa and Melissa both have day jobs (Lisa at Facebook and Melissa at WritersCorps) and run the magazine as a side project (Melissa also curates the annual Slant Film Festival).
I should note that Lisa was named one of the 30 Most Influential Asian Americans Under 30 last year. I should also note that the 7x7's reader choice nominees include Tae Kim, Mayka Mei, Kira Stackhouse and Viola Sutano. Shouldn't 7x7 have more Asian American representation in its magazine? Yes.
