Look! An Asian guy! Briefly spotted Jeremy Chu as "Jay Chan" in the trailer for My Soul To Take, the new horror flick from writer/director Wes Craven. It's about a supposedly-dead serial killer who returns to a small town sixteen years later to kill the seven children born on the night he died. Check it out:
It appears that Jay Chan is one of the seven. And he dies. That's not a spoiler, dude -- the kid dies in the opening moments of the trailer. Thrown off a bridge, to be precise. And halfway through the trailer, he gets a little shout out: "They found Jay Chan in the river this morning... he's dead." And just to be sure, we even get the grisly sight of his recovered corpse.
Interesting -- Jeremy Chu here, Aaron Yoo in Friday the 13th, Parry Shen in Hatchet... Is this a new trend developing? Does every horror flick now need a token expendable Asian guy? Hmmm... Rest in peace. Jay Chan, we hardly knew you. My Soul To Take opens in theaters on October 8.
