Renita Holliday says she suspects that the New Garden Chinese restaurant is either cooking with canine meat, or they are letting a dog around the food. And she's filing a lawsuit against the restaurant for $25,000 in "personal damages":
"I thought it was my tooth at first, and then I realized that it definitely was not mine," Holliday says. "I was confused as to what it was because it definitely did not look human, so I brought the tooth to my dentist. He told me that it was a canine’s tooth," she admits. "I was shocked," she says.I'm sorry you had a bad dining experience... but is anyone else calling B.S. on this woman's story? It just seems too easy. I'm not saying it's above any restaurant to have suspect ingredients in its food, but singling out the local Chinese eatery seems pretty convenient. Because, hell, there are a lot of people who would believe you.
She reports that her fright turned into fury quickly. She called the police who informed her that there was no crime committed. Once she realized that she could not file a police report against the restaurant she found a different avenue for justice.
She called the New York City Health Department to file a formal complaint. "I think that people should know where and what they are eating," she states. "I feed my five year old child with that food! What if I gave it to her? She would have choked!" Holliday continues.
Holliday still has the tooth and the food in her possession as evidence. "I want the Health Department to test the food to see if there are other canine traces. I found the tooth, but what else was there?" she says. Holliday believes that either they are cooking with canine meat, or they are letting a dog around the food. Either way she believes that there are many health code violations being committed at New Garden restaurant.
It wouldn't be the first time someone pulled a food hoax for a quick buck. I'm just saying, pending a follow up investigation, all you've got right now is this woman's word and a gross dog's tooth.
