available now: far east movement's free wired

Hell yeaaaaah. It's finally here. Free Wired, the much-anticipated new album from our favorite party-starters Far East Movement is finally here. It's available at iTunes, Amazon and all the usual retailers. Eleven fresh electro hip hop tunes to get your ass moving. I am listening to it right now as I write this, and dammit, it feels good. It feels good on a lot of levels.

It feels good because it's been a long time coming. I first saw FM at a small record store show back in the fall of 2004. I was immediately struck by their energy, artistry and overall vibe and became an instant fan. From those humble beginnings, who knew how far they'd go? But they definitely had something special I wanted to see more of. I've been an avid supporter ever since.

It feels good because they deserve it. To the new FM fans, make no mistake -- these guys are not overnight sensations. They've been hustling. And I don't know any group who works as hard as Far East Movement. These guys have made it this far, step by step, because they work their asses off. As much as I enjoy FM's music, it's their work ethic that constantly astounds me.

It feels good because the new album is damn good fun. FM's sound has definitely morphed and changed over the years, but I can't say I mind. Chances are, if you listen to popular radio, you've heard their hit single "Like a G6," and you know how incredibly infectious it is. If you're feeling that Stereotypes party vibe, then dammit, you're going to love the rest of Free Wired.

It feels good because this is only the beginning. I've waited a long time to see an Asian American music act reach this kind of success, and it is awesome, but there's still work to do and a ways to go. It's all coming together, and I can't wait to see what happens next. In the meantime, if you're in your car, and "Like a G6" comes on the radio, crank that $h!t up! Then legally get your hands on a copy of Free Wired.
