kpcc play reading series: annette lee's english only

If you're in Los Angeles this weekend, you're invited to a free live staged reading of playwright Annette Lee's English Only, presented in partnership with KPCC, Little Fish Theatre Company and TorranceLive! Works-in-Progress.

Set in the 1980s, the play is based on the true events of the city of Monterey Park and its battle over English as its official language. It's happening this Saturday, October 16, 2:00pm at the The Crawford Family Forum in Pasadena. Here some more details:

In partnership with KPCC, Little Fish Theatre Company and TorranceLive! Works-In-Progress present a live staged reading of ENGLISH ONLY by playwright Annette Lee.

Seventeen year old Scarlett Wong is trying to lead the All-American teenage life but her new neighbors who don't speak English are making it tough. Set in the 1980's, ENGLISH ONLY is based on the true events of the city of Monterey Park and its battle over English as its official language.

This reading is directed by John Powers and features Jenny Kang, Michelle Rios, Jeison Azali, Mark Nelson, Nancy Brennan, Bill Wolski, Ken Seeraty, Frank Pepito, Ewan Chung, and Perry Daniel.
