If you're in New York and want to check out some theater, Second Generation presents Free Range, its first national 10-minute play contest. They put out a call for new plays by Asian American playwrights and found some cool new works. And now they're sharing it with you, teaming up playwrights with directors and actors for new staged readings. It's happening November 19 and 20 at The Flamboyan Theater. Here are some more details:
To put on Free Range, they're actually asking for help in raising $500 to support the playwrights, actors, and artists. Any additional support above the $500 goal will go towards turning some of the plays into full-length staged readings this spring. For more information about the plays and what you can do to support them, go to the 2g website here.
FREE RANGE is 2g's first National 10-minute play contest. We put out the call for brand new plays by Asian American playwrights and we found some exciting, challenging new voices. Now, we're pairing directors and actors with the playwrights to put these new works on their feet in staged readings. All these artists are getting the space to roam and play, free range style. We'd love for you to join us.
