There's no other baseball player like Ichiro Suzuki. This week, the Seattle Mariners right fielder won his 10th consecutive Gold Glove Award, recognizing excellence in fielding. With ten straight wins, Ichiro has the longest active streak in Major League Baseball: Ichiro wins 10th straight Gold Glove.
The award puts Ichiro in a tie for second most Gold Glove Awards by an outfielder, a distinction he shares with Ken Griffey Jr. and Al Kaline. Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays each won twelve. More here: Ichiro wins 10th straight Gold Glove.
Ichiro finished the 2010 season with four errors, seven assists and an ultimate zone rating of 15.6. He is the only player to win a Gold Glove in each of his first 10 seasons. He also won seven straight Gold Gloves in Japan from 1994-2000.
The Mariners have had at least one Gold Glove Award winner in 24 consecutive seasons - the longest such streak in the major leagues.
