AIFF'11 is scheduled for July 13-23, 2011. Do you want to be part of a vibrant APA film community and have a hand in putting together the longest running film festival of its kind in the United States? Yes, you do. Here are the available positions and qualifications:
Design/Web Assistant (ASAP or January to August)Internships are unpaid but come with travel reimbursement and university credit (if applicable). Help manage and regularly update the ACV and Festival sites. Work closely with Festival staff on various levels of production. Big plusses: experience in interactive, graphic, or web design and knowledge in HTML.
Outreach Coordinator (ASAP to August)
Responsible for maintaining and establishing relationships with various community organizations, universities, schools, and clubs for special/promotional events.
Program & Prints Coordinator (ASAP to August)
Facilitate the process of all film-related programming, including tracking submissions and prints. Serve as liaison for accredited filmmakers, industry, and guests of the film festival.
Production Assistant (ASAP to August)
Help execute production of Festival programs and special events. Coordinate logistics with sites, vendors, and sponsors. Assist with day-to-day office operations.
Hospitality Coordinator (April to August)
Responsible for the accreditation of all filmmakers, industry and guests of film festival. Arrange all hotel and flight accommodations for filmmakers/guests as deemed necessary. Edit and update the filmmaker/industry packet.
Marketing Assistant (April to August)
Assist with public relations and promotional works for the AAIFF. A background in film is not necessary, but excellent writing skill is a must.
Tech Production Assistant (April to August)
Assist with tech support ranging from DVD burning, editing, to digitizing. Experience in Final Cut Pro and/or Photoshop a BIG plus but will train on job.
Special Events Coordinator (April to August)
Research, plan and organize festival fundraiser and after parties.
ACV Archival Intern (ASAP)
Help digitize and organize ACV's original Asian American print collection. No experience necessary. Will train on job.
Qualifications:
- Students with a genuine interest in the arts, humanities, and/or film.
- Detail-oriented with a keen sense of organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Mac platforms and Microsoft Office suite.
- Able to commit 15-20 hours a week.
- BIG plusses: Knowledge of film/video formats and handling; fluency in Asian languages; familiarity with FileMaker Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, and proficiency in HTML/CSS/PHP.
