east west players offers teen acting classes

Here's a cool opportunity for teens in Los Angeles... East West Players, the nation's premier Asian American theatre company, is offering a new Teen Acting Class for young emerging artists to work with a professional who is passionate about teaching acting in a creative, nurturing, and safe environment.

Led by drama teacher Jose Urbina, this ten-week course for ages 10-16 will focus on the fundamentals of acting. Students will develop acting skills through improvisation and theatre games which will improve and promote communication and creativity as well as team work and self-esteem.

The Teen Acting Class will be held on Saturday afternoons, February 5 through April 9 in Little Tokyo. Here are some more details about the class:

When: Saturdays, February 5 - April 9, 2011 (10 wks.)

Begin your acting theatre adventure by studying with a working professional who has devoted his life to teaching acting in a nurturing and safe environment. Led by Jose Urbina*, this 10 week course for ages 10-16 will focus on fundamental acting skills for teens and will include exercises needed to develop the actor's craft. Exploration will be through improvisation and theatre games which will improve and promote communication and imagination skills as well as team building and self-esteem.
