The Associate Artistic Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, selection, and presentation of high quality programming of the annual San Diego Asian Film Festival, Spring Showcase, and other year-round programs. Qualifications and responsibilities include:

B.A. is required. A strong candidate will have a minimum of 3 years programming for film festivals and have extensive knowledge of Asian American cinema. Ethnic and film studies background a plus.

* Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a wide variety of people including general public, staff, and volunteers

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a must; Withoutabox and Filemaker Pro a plus
* Ability to work as a leader and a team player
* Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and meet deadlines
* Ability to work within budgetary confinements, and find ways to cut costs while maintaining the quality and integrity of our programs
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Artistic Director in leading the Festival’s programming committee in the research, recruitment, selection, writing and scheduling of films for the Annual Festival
* Assist in programming, planning, and execution of the Spring Showcase
* Communicate with distributors, filmmakers, scholars, film archives, guest curators and others involved in programs.
* Learn multiple aspects of film festival planning such as travel/hospitality, film trafficking, and ticketing.
* Attend community events and other film festivals on behalf of SDAFF
* Assist with tracking in film entries into the system and assist with filmmaker inquiries
* Assist in the curation of retrospectives, outdoor film screenings and more.
