fred korematsu day at los altos high school

More Korematsu Day celebratin' in California... Our friend Jay Chen, Board Member of the Hacienda-La Puente Unified School District, points us to this local news coverage, reported by Gordon Takamatsu, of a civic class at Los Altos High School learning the lessons of Fred Korematsu -- the first school in the state to incorporate the curriculum:

Jay was invited to speak to the class on Fred Korematsu. Here's his own blog post on the occasion: Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution.

Here's also a cool educational video about the Fred Korematsu story, produced by The Working Group for the UNITY Lab, with help from the Korematsu Institute: Fred Korematsu: A Civil Rights Hero (UNITY Lab).

If you don't know anything about this civil right icon, it's a nice primer to get you started. I also highly recommend seeking out the documentary Of Civil Wrongs and Rights - The Fred Korematsu Story.
