NYC Earthquake Relief Concert

Friday, May 6
8:00pm - 11:00pm

92Y Tribeca
92YTribeca, 200 Hudson Street
New York, NY

The Shanghai Restoration Project returns to 92YTribeca with its unique blend of Chinese instrumentation, hip hop and electronica. Producer Dave Liang and MC Jamahl Richardson (aka Natural Fact) take listeners on a sonic journey through the city, evoking its infectious energy with a beat driven interactive multimedia performance that draws its creative inspiration from the old 1930s Shanghai jazz bands, an early combination of East and West that's become an international legend.

Born in Japan and raised in Seattle, bilingual singer/songwriter Emi Meyer has performed at the renowned FUJI Rock Festival in Japan and the Sundance Film Festival and was named the best New Jazz Artist on iTunes Japan for 2009.

DJ HAHA (Half Asian Half Amazin) will spin between sets.

The artists will donate proceeds for this show to benefit Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief.

$15 advance / $20 at the door.
This is going to be a great show! I've been a longtime supporter of Dave Liang, the guy behind the Shanghai Restoration Project -- a really cool guy and extremely talented musician. He flew all the way out to Los Angeles to perform over the weekend at my 10th Anniversary Party, and totally kicked ass. If you've never seen his full set, you're in for a treat.

Dave also recently collaborated with Emi Meyer, who is also quite fantastic, to produce this wonderful little tribute track, "Birthday Wish." In short, I'm a huge fan of these two, and you shouldn't miss the chance to see them perform for a great cause. For more information about the show, and to purchase tickets, go here.
