More geeky cool news out of Comic-Con... It's short, but fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender got a look at the first trailer for The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra, the upcoming spinoff of the phenomenally popular Nickelodeon animated series. Set 70 years after the reign of Aang, the show stars the new Avatar, the fierce warrior Korra, a member of the Southern Water Tribe. Check it out:
Can't wait! We get some good shots of Korra in action, as well as a brief glimpse of how the four nations have changed, including the steampunk metropolis of Republic City, the epicenter of the modern Avatar world.
I'm a relatively new fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender. I got into the series on DVD, when the casting controversy surrounding the live action movie first hit. But once I started watching, I was hooked. Expectations are high, but I hope Korra lives up to the hype. Oh, did I mention that our pal Daniel Dae Kim is in the voice cast?
The Legend of Korra will hit television sometime in 2012.
