Calling all Korean food fans in Los Angeles... Next month, the Korean American Coalition and MNET will host the Third Annual Zion Market Korean BBQ Cook-off. But before that, they're holding auditions for top local chefs will compete for the title of Top Grill Master. with their own original Korean-inspired barbecue dish. Hungry yet?
The four finalists for the cook-off will be selected through a two-step audition process. On Saturday, July 23, all interested candidates will bring a sample of their dish to the auditions, to be held at MaDang the Courtyard in Koreatown.
After the initial screening, the top nominees will present their dishes to a panel of celebrity judges, including actor James Kyson Lee, actor C.S. Lee, and popular food blogger Sarah Gim. The panel will select the top five chefs (four winners and one alternate) who will then compete at the Zion Market Korean BBQ Cook-off with their original dish. The winner will receive a cash prize. 9:00 AM - Doors open
9:15 AM - Round 1. Judges will narrow the dishes based on presentation and descriptions and will select the top nominees to move on to the next round.
10-12:15 PM - Round 2. Contestants will have 5 minutes to warm up their dishes and present them before the judges.
12:15-12:45 PM - Judges will score the dishes based on taste and presentation and choose the top 5 finalists (4 winners, 1 alternate) to compete in the Korean BBQ Cook-off on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
