At this point, what movie isn't Justin Lin attached to direct? The red-hot Fast Five director is reportedly among the names currently on the studio short list to helm the long-gestating Die Hard 5: Joe Cornish, Justin Lin & Nicolas Winding Refn Join John Moore On Shortlist For 'Die Hard 5.'Okay, first of all, they're making a fifth Die Hard movie? I do not think this is a good idea. But let's put that aside for a moment. Justin Lin is in the running to direct it? Seriously, I read the trades every day just to see what project Justin is attached to now. And I love it. To think, ten years ago, the guy was making Better Luck Tomorrow on maxed out credit cards. Now he's Hollywood's most wanted.
But seriously, they're making another Die Hard movie? How much catastrophe can one ordinary man go through? Based on what's being reported, the script for the fifth movie has the action largely set in Russia "with John McClane accompanied there by his son and the two drawn into a conflict with local forces." Bleh.
Last question: when will Justin have time to actually make all these movies he's attached to? Justin's director to-do list includes a Terminator reboot, a Highlander remake, and the inevitable sixth Fast and Furious movie. And I'm pretty sure he's got a few original ideas of his own he'd like to tackle. Whatever the case, he's going to be pretty darn busy for a while.
By the way, Justin, if you do end up taking on the Die Hard franchise, I've got a pretty sweet idea for a sixth movie. Have your people call my people.
