matcha: tantri shadow play, august 18

Another evening out for my folks in San Francisco... You are invited to the latest edition of MATCHA, the Asian Art Museum's monthly after-hours art/music/mixer series. This month's event is all about shadow puppets. That's right. From the man who is considered, hands down, the world's most revered shadow puppet master. It's happening Thursday, August 18 at the Asian Art Museum. And you've got the chance to win some free passes! See below for more details:
MATCHA: Tantri Shadow Play
Thurs, August 18
Only $10 (includes entry to Bali)
Asian Art Museum

Don't miss living legend I Wayan Wija, regarded as one of the foremost living shadow masters in the world. He'll be presenting wayang tantri, his playful twist on the mesmerizing storytelling art of shadow puppetry. Using light, intricate puppets, and lively music, shadow puppetry is one of Bali's most beloved forms of performance. It is designated a "Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by the UN.

See critically acclaimed Bali, mingle over cocktails, embark on a docent tour, stroll the galleries, make art, and more, all for just $10. This will be your last chance to experience Bali at a MATCHA event before it closes. Share this event with friends on Facebook. See you at MATCHA!
Want to win free tickets to MATCHA? The Asian Art Museum is giving away pair of passes to one lucky, randomly drawn winner. All you have to do is email asianartmuseumsf@gmail.com by Tuesday morning (August 16), with the subject line "I want to see living legend I Wayan Wija." You'll be contacted if you win.
