Here's the freshly dropped new trailer for Shanghai Calling, the upcoming indie feature film debut from writer/director Daniel Hsia. It's a romantic comedy, starring Daniel Henney, about American "expats" living and working in Shanghai. I think it looks pretty promising. Check it out:
Here's the synopsis:
SHANGHAI CALLING is a romantic comedy about American “expats” living in the dynamic, gorgeous city of Shanghai, China. When ambitious New York attorney Sam (DANIEL HENNEY) is sent to Shanghai, he immediately stumbles into a legal mess that could end his career. With help from a beautiful relocation specialist (ELIZA COUPE), a well-connected old-timer (BILL PAXTON), a clever journalist (GENG LE), and a smart, sexy legal assistant (ZHU ZHU), Sam might save his job, find romance, and learn to appreciate the many wonders of Shanghai. For the record, I think Daniel Henney is one seriously attractive man, and I ain't ashamed to say it. The movie also stars Eliza Coupe, Bill Paxton, Alan Ruck. Geng Le and Zhu Zhu. Any movie with a character named "Awesome Wang" has the makings of a winner, in my book.
No word on a release date yet, but I'm sure we'll be seeing it on the festival trail pretty soon. For further information on the movie, visit the Shanghai Calling website here and the film's Facebook page here.
