CultureStrike is "an artist-led initiative whose mission is to cultivate innovative and urgent collaborations between artists, writers, performers and other cultural workers to shift the national imagination on immigration."
It sounds pretty cool, but it needs someone with capable hands. To see an in-progress version of what they're doing, go here. And here's a blurb with some more details about the position:
CultureStrike is an artist-led initiative whose mission is to cultivate innovative and urgent collaborations between artists, writers, performers and other cultural workers to shift the national imagination on immigration. Co-produced by the Asian American Writers' Workshop, CultureStrike seeks to support a cultural movement for immigration justice. In 2010, we enlisted Salman Rushdie, Junot Diaz, Sandra Cisneros, Naomi Klein and 300 other writers to boycott Arizona after the state passed the anti-immigrant law SB1070. In 2011, we brought 50 writers and artists to the Arizona-Mexico border, including Teju Cole, Daniel Alarcón, Wangechi Mutu, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Tania Bruguera. For our next stage, we're building a national countercultural magazine of writers and artists responding to immigration politics. We have writing and art from Mike Davis, Jessica Hagedorn, Favianna Rodriguez, Wafaa Bilal and others--all we're missing is a great editor to build the capacity of the project. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds. Please see wordstrike.net to see an in-progress version of our website.I'm not sure about the application deadline, but they definitely need someone awesome to pull this off, so if you're interested you better get on it soon.
