deli owner murdered in washington d.c.

Catching up on some news from earlier this month. Sadly, it's not good news... Earlier this month in Washington D.C., a deli owner was shot and killed inside her own store in a possible robbery: June Lim, Owner Of Grace Deli, Found Dead Inside Store; Police Investigating Case As Homicide.

64-year-old Hae Soon Lim, known to her friends as June, was found dead inside the Grace Deli on June 14. Police say she had been shot in the neck. Judging from the outpouring of sorrow, grief and support from neighbors, she was well-loved in the community:
"I really had no idea that my mom had touched so many people in this way," Peter Lim says.

Hae Soon Lim, 64, a Rockville resident, was found dead inside the Grace Deli, in the 700 block of H Street NE, at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Police say she had been shot in the neck.

Outside the H Street store neighbors and patrons stood shoulder to shoulder. A sign of respect for a beloved merchant.

They remembered a woman who "knew your voice when you called on the phone," who gave you a smile, and described her as "a loving lady."
It's senseless and tragic. According to her family, Lim was just a year away from retirement, and just three months away from becoming a grandmother. More here: Family, friends hold vigil for slain D.C. deli owner.
