Bummer. Everybody's favorite pseudo-Desi alternative hip hop group has reportedly called it quits. Das Racist -- Heems, Kool A.D. and Dapwell -- are breaking up. Actually, it sounds like they broke up a couple of months ago.
Last night in Munich, Heems was doing a solo show when he let the crowd in on a little secret: "You guys wanna know the secret? Alright, so I'm going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we're not a band anymore." There's video of the announcement here.
Not long after the announcement got out, Kool A.D. tweeted: "for the record i quit das racist 2 months ago and was asked by our manager not to announce it yet. apparently @himanshu wanted to do it tho."
Ah, well. It happens. It was fun while it lasted. They were the best thing to happen to Comibination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell locations everywhere. More here: Das Racist 'Not a Band Anymore.'
