Angry Reader of the Week: Jen Kwok

Hey there. Please gather 'round, because it's time again to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Jen Kwok.

Who are you?

I'm Jen Kwok.

What are you?

I'm a writer, comedian, musician, actress, wife, sister, daughter, dog mom, friend, and party thrower. I'm Chinese-American by way of Vietnam and California, and have been a New Yorker for over ten years. I'm also a chronic dreamer, proud meat eater, and somewhere between an ENFP and INFP.

Where are you?

Queens, NYC -- right off the 7 train, baby!

Where are you from?

I'm from Southern California, born in "The Valley" and raised in the Mojave Desert. I still miss the pho and sunsets -- so respectively stanky and gorgeous.

What do you do?

I write and perform my own work, which is everything from funny to non-funny songs, characters, stories, jokes and sketches. I've done some commercials, film and TV, and I audition in the hopes of doing more. Stuff I do on a daily basis include: singing, meditating, Instagramming my dog (@lillucydoodle), hanging out with my husband aka best friend, and finding and following bits of inspiration as they come.

What are you all about?

I'm all about listening to your intuition. I'm about living life from the heart, soul, and guts -- even if it is the harder path. I'm into digging deep down into who I truly am, and figuring out how I can make things and connect with people on that level. I'm all about creativity, self discovery, meditation, yoga, therapy, accepting change, macaroons, meeting new people, trying new things, asking weird questions and figuring out how to use Kewpie mayo in as many recipes as possible. I'm also all about Mad Men, jelly shoes, Sarah Vaughan singing The Beatles, people speaking their truth, honesty, classic movies, glitter, and greater diversity in the media and entertainment. I'm all about videos and nature shows about things in the ocean (seriously, please send me clips -- I love them so much!), going to the beach, and treating others and yourself the way you would want to be treated.

What makes you angry?

The things that make me angry about other people and the outside world are the very things that I struggle with in my own life. These things include: judgment, stereotypes, unfairness, taking things for granted, corruption, separation, segregation, fear, greed, ignorance, ego, apathy, not listening, dishonesty, jealousy, addiction, denial, numbing, irresponsible use of the Internet, fakeness, consumerism, death, Buzzfeed lists, striving for perfection, and being in any moment other than the present one. I'm also angry about the act of being angry (it's a never-ending cycle)!
