Taiwan is Doing Cars Better Than Us

A Very Short Photo Essay About The Weird and Wonderful Cars of Taiwan. Guest Post by Sanjay Shah

I was in Taiwan earlier this month to help shoot the upcoming season premiere of Fresh Off The Boat. I am also so obsessed with cars that I dropped out of college to work on them. Here are some of the cars that I saw on the streets of Taiwan:

Oh, look. It's just one of the greatest campers ever made, the Mitsubishi Delica Star Wagon 4x4, peeking through the trees all shy and shit. Los Angeles can have its surf dads in bespoke Westfalias, but in coastal parts of Taiwan, unpretentious Delicas are everywhere, ready to do what needs to be done.

I wish I had 10 percent of this purple Honda hatchback's confidence. The wheels look like they're made out of melted-down M.U.S.C.L.E. figurines. Where my toy nerds at?

Look at this breakfast truck. Just look at it. Dude in back is making an egg sandwich that includes bacon, mayo, and peanut butter. He combined mayo and peanut butter and somehow, it worked. It was delicious. I do it at home now. In the front of the truck we have four jugs of different milky teas that make coffee taste like yesterday. Why doesn't this truck exist in America? I thought Obama said we do big things.

This shit pissed me off. A two-tone Vanagon converted into an exquisite rolling bar. What the actual fuck. Why does this upset me so? Scroll down...

It had hella Deschutes IPAs up in there! Gin and tonics! A Thrasher sticker! Did you notice the name of this bar car is "EVERYWHERE"? You did. Don't even pretend it doesn't make you emotional. WHY DOES THIS SHIT ONLY EXIST IN TAIWAN?

America, our hipsters have failed us.
