Angry Reader of the Week: Ji-Yeon Yuh

"The mother of three children, a historian, an Asian American Studies scholar..."

Hello, internet friends. It it time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Ji-Yeon Yuh.

Who are you?

The mother of three children, a historian, an Asian American Studies scholar, a black belt in taekwondo, a fan of genre fiction and K-dramas.

What are you?

Someone who came to the U.S. at age 5 from South Korea and grew up with an awareness of racism, sexism, and the problem of U.S. involvement in Korea. These issues have come to define the causes I've supported over the years.

Where are you?

In the Chicago metropolitan area.

Where are you from?

Born in Seoul, raised in Chicago.

What do you do?

Professor of History and Asian American Studies at Northwestern University.

What are you all about?

Trying to be a good mentor for my students, both undergrad and graduate, a good parent to my children, and a good neighbor in my communities.

What makes you angry?

Hypocrisy, social injustice, taking advantage of those in weaker positions, greed, deliberate obliviousness.
