project: robotech

A while back, we got the news that that the epic 1980s sci-fi cartoon series Robotech was being turned into a live-action Hollywood movie. If you're like me this is crazy awesome news. More than even Transformers or G.I. Joe, hands down, Robotech was my favorite cartoon as a kid.

I love this series. I just hope they don't screw things up with the adaptation. And would it be too much to ask for them to throw some Asian American actors in the cast? I guess that's where Project: Robotech comes in.

Tana Sarnt is an Asian American actor in New York who, like me, loves Robotech. In fact, he loves it so much, he's on a quest to become a Veritech fighter pilot -- or at least, looking for the chance to try -- and is hoping the right people might see his efforts and give him a shot.

To accomplish this, Tana created Midnight Sky, an original live action short based on Robotech, in which he stars as a Veritech fighter pilot recalling two memories: his first encounter with Miriya, the Zentradi ace pilot, and his first date with a loved one on Earth. It's kind of cool and trippy. Take a look at it here, and visit Project: Robotech here.
