The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAPPI) is looking for a Program Specialist passionate about improving quality of life and economic/community development opportunities for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). This position requires high levels of collaboration and coalition building; ability to foster positive relationships with federal agencies and interested stakeholders at the local, state, and national level; and interest in developing innovative and comprehensive solutions to address community needs. Applicant is expected to have both significant knowledge of, and experience working with, the AAPI community. Job duties may include responding to external and internal inquiries and proposals from the AAPI community and various federal agencies, and supporting positive working relationships with, and programs developed by, the Commissioners and the Interagency Working Group. The incumbent will analyze problems affecting the AAPI community and prepare reports and recommendations when required. The incumbent will support outreach efforts, which may include representing the Initiative at conferences and/or meetings. Depending on experience, the incumbent also may work closely with the Commission to set its immediate and long-term strategic direction and key priorities.
