racist graffiti investigated as hate crime in orange county

News of a hate crime out of Southern California... In Santa Ana, police have launched a hate crime investigation after racist and threatening graffiti was found sprayed on a county building: Racist graffiti prompts Santa Ana police to launch hate crime probe.

Racial slurs and violent remarks directed against Asians and blacks were tagged on a wall of the Orange County Housing Authority office. Many of the employees at the office are Asian American and African American, which leads officials to believe they were potentially targeted.
Racial slurs against Asians and blacks, as well as threats of physical violence, were found painted on the side of the building in the1700 block of North Broadway on Tuesday morning, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Police believe that the vandalism took place between the time the housing authority closed at 5:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Bertagna said.

Authorities have not identified any suspects.
