[NICK YOUNG]: boy, 13-17, Asian, to play 15, suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and relies on his perfect older brother to help him socially. After his brother's death, the bewildering outside world is no longer filtered for him, and he is forced to face truths he never thought possible about his brother's secret life.The project is written by Ellie Wen and Fabienne Wen, produced by Chris Lee, Joel Soisson and Ellie Wen, and executive producer David Henry Hwang.
Note: Asperger's Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.
[MS. LEE]: Any ethnicity, in her 30s, Chaz's favorite teacher, she is also the director of a community center where Chaz worked as a volunteer. Openly gay, she is a warm, hard-working woman with a passion for the many children who find sanctuary at her center.
[AUNT MAY]: In her early 30s, Asian American, beautiful but hard-edged, she is Irene's sister. An attorney, she steps in to help when the Youngs seek to stop a video from airing at the community center.
