angry reader of the week: anthony nguyen

Hey! It's time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is University of Florida student Anthony Nguyen.

Who are you?
My name is Anthony Nguyen, youngest of five born and raised by Vietnamese parents.

What are you?
I am Vietnamese American and a fourth year Physics major at the University of Florida (GO GATORS!!).

Where are you?
The college town of Gainesville, FL

Where are you from?
I was born in Warner Robins, GA. But when I was 8 years old, I moved to Fort Walton Beach/Destin, FL. Hands down one of the nicest beach areas in the state of Florida!

What do you do?
Currently I am the Executive Director of Asian Kaleidoscope Month at UF, which is the Asian American awareness month on campus. It started mid-October and is actually almost to the end. We were also fortunate to have the one and only Angry Asian Man come host an event last week!

Other than that, I'm just your average student ready to graduate in the Spring and to start the next chapter in life.

What are you all about?
Family, friends, school, work, work, and work. I have a busy lifestyle, but I really enjoy programming events and making an impact through my involvement on campus and the community. That's why I stuck with Asian Kaleidoscope Month for a few years. It makes being busy worth it!

What makes you angry?
It shocks me that even today there is still racism and ignorance. I even experienced it firsthand this past Saturday at a football game with my siblings and friends (true story). I just don't think those who act this way realize the wrong in what they are doing, which is why it is important to inform them and to stand up against it.
