For Trekkies eagerly anticipating director Justin Lin's take on the final frontier, here's your first glimpse. Paramount just dropped the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond, with the veteran Fast & Furious director now helming the adventures of Kirk and Co. in the bigger and badder latest installment of the space adventure franchise. From the looks of things, the U.S.S. Enterprise is in pretty bad shape.
Check it out:
Like I said, bigger and badder. We've got Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" -- and throwback to the first movie -- kicking things off, the Enterprise getting its ass kicked by flying space things, and the crew getting stranded on a hostile alien planet. Super-crazy motorcycle jump thrown in for good measure. This really does feel like the Fast & Furious version of Star Trek. (Or the Star Trek version of Fast & Furious.) I'll take it.
Written by Doug Jung and Simon Pegg, Star Trek Beyond stars Chris Pine as Kirk, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zach Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, John Cho as Sulu, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, Karl Urban as Bones and Idris Elba as the as yet unnamed bad guy.
Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22.
