Air passenger busted with 38 pounds of drugs

Asians behaving badly... drug smuggling air passenger edition! A Minnesota woman was arrested after more than 38 pounds of drugs were discovered in her luggage at O'Hare International Airport.

On Saturday morning, 49-year-old Khoua Vang landed in Chicago, where U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found more than 3,500 methamphetamine pills and about 37 1/2 pounds of opium in her luggage.




According to the Cook County sheriff's office, Vang was charged with one count each of methamphetamine delivery, meth trafficking, possession of meth, and controlled substance trafficking; and two counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

Vang had returned to the United States on a flight from South Korea after traveling to Laos. She was scheduled to fly home to Minnesota when customs officers discovered the drugs.

The drugs were believed to have a street value of almost $518,000, according to court records.
