racist super bowl commercials for salesgenie.com

Okay. Just saw this wack stupid Super Bowl commercial for Salesgenie.com, featuring a bunch of poorly animated pandas with idiotic Asian accents. So unnecessary. They appear to own a furniture store that's not doing so well, but thanks to Salegenie.com, they turn their store into an Ikea-like megastore, complete with a stereotypical wonton font sign. Boo. As if that wasn't bad enough, they've got another commercial with an Indian-accented guy behind a desk getting yelled at by his boss. You know, because foreign accents are funny—from both pandas and people. View both the commercials here. That's racist!

This SFGate blog has already made note of the commercial, remarking, "The most notable ad in these two breaks was the horribly unfunny and tasteless Salesgenie ad, with Pandas speaking in Chinese accents. Someone's going to be apologizing tomorrow. And the next day. And the day after that." Yeah, thanks for reinforcing racist stereotypes to the nation's largest television viewing audience of the year.

UPDATE: The worst part is, the company was apparently trying to make these commercials the worst Super Bowl ads possible: Salesgenie.com Ready to Reclaim Crown as Super Bowl's 'Worst Ad' Champion. They succeeded. And here's the sad truth: any sort of controversy these ads stir up will likely just give more publicity to a no-name company that nobody ever gave a crap about in the first place. We can't win.
