interview with racebending

This week, fans of The Last Airbender finally heard from director M. Night Shyamalan in an interview addressing the movie's casting controversy. His explanation and justification for casting mostly white actors in the film were not very satisfactory, to say the least. In short, he just doesn't get it.

UGO.com has post a great conversation with Mike Le, spokesperson for Racebending.com, who gives a very thoughtful and nuanced response to Shymalan and his casting choices: Interview with the Racebender.

It's a really great interview, carefully explaining what Mike and Racebending are trying to do, and the conversation they are trying to facilitate about the sticky issue of race and Hollywood. He breaks it down quite nicely. Read it here, then check out Racebending.com here.
