rose kuo named executive director of film society on lincoln center

Some news out of New York... Last week, the Film Society of Lincoln Center announced its new executive director, Rose Kuo, replacing Mara Manus, whose tenure in the position was apparently marked with discord and financial trouble: Film Society of Lincoln Center Replaces Its Director.
s. Kuo has a background that is largely in programming. For three years, she was the artistic director of AFI Fest, a film festival in Los Angeles organized by the American Film Institute. She has also been a programming consultant for the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art and for the Santa Barbara, San Francisco and Mill Valley Film Festivals.

Most recently, she founded a company, Festworks, which provides consulting to festivals, and she was a director of the Sante Fe Film Festival.

A spokeswoman for the society, Sarah Rothman, said Ms. Kuo was traveling and could not be reached for comment.

Richard Peña, the society’s program director, said of Ms. Kuo, “Her allegiance to filmmakers and film audiences is matched by her strong relationships with funders — a critical attribute in these tough times.”
Kuo's first priorities will be to oversee the opening of the Film Society's Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, which will add two state-of-the-art cinemas to Lincoln Center in 2011. More here: Rose Kuo Named Exec Director, Film Society of Lincoln Center.
