red jade: a detective jack yu investigation by henry chang

Hey, how come nobody told me there was a new Detective Jack Yu book out? Red Jade: A Detective Jack Yu Investigation, the third novel in Henry Chang's Chinatown Trilogy, was published last month from SoHo Press.

In this latest book, when two bodies are discovered in Chinatown, Detective Jack Yu is once again confronted with organized, international Chinese crime. Here's the publisher's description, and some praise:

Two bodies are discovered at an address on the Bloody Angle, Chinatown's historic Tong battleground. NYPD Detective Jack Yu's investigation takes him across the country to another Chinatown, this one in Seattle, in pursuit of a cold-blooded Chinese-American gangster and a mysterious Hong Kong femme fatale.

"An action-packed plot and a carefully detailed mystery make this a feast for readers who crave insight into the cultural melting pot that is the United States. " - Library Journal, Starred Review

"A sharp mix of action, post-Wire procedural and cultural commentary aimed squarely at readers who aren’t overly attached to happy, or even conclusive, endings." - Kirkus Reviews

"In his third entry in the Jack Yu series, Chang continues to provide insight into the Chinese American community and its culture. Series fans will also be pleased to see that the much-interrupted relationship of Jack and district attorney Alexandra Lee-Chow moves to a new level. A fast-moving police procedural with added sociological depth." - Booklist
I have not yet read Red Jade, but I'm a big crime fiction fan, and I enjoyed the two previous books in the series, Chinatown Beat and Year of the Dog. For more information about Red Jade, go to the SoHo Press website here, or Henry Chang's Chinatown Trilogy website here, where you can read an excerpt from the book.
