XYZR_KX, aka electronic musician Jon Monteverde, is raising money for the release of his next album Secession in Astropolis, and is in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign to make it happen. The album is actually recorded and ready. He just needs the funds to get it out there. That is, of course, where you come in. Jon explains (and gives you a little preview) in this video:
But wait, why bother making a physical album? Jon explains some more:
"But why even bother manufacturing anything when everyone is just downloading MP3s?" you may ask. Well, the truth is that I believe the physical manifestation of "Secession" is the fully realized experience.Based on the preview, I think it sounds pretty damn cool, and I'm looking forward to hearing more. He's trying to raise a total of $1600 by April 23. And with your support, he can definitely reach it. For more information about the project, and to make a pledge -- big or small -- go to the Kickstarter page here. And to learn more about the music of XYZR_KX, go to his official website here.
Even though music can and should stand on its own, "Secession" was conceived as a combined sci-fi visual and aural experience, so the artwork is integral to the gestalt.
The downside to physical albums is that they both cost money to make and to spread the word. That's why Actually Records and I are looking for some help in putting this record out there.
