angry reader of the week: greg watanabe

Hey internets. Join me in welcoming the next Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is actor Greg Watanabe, who is currently appearing in the Geffen Playhouse's production of Extraordinary Chambers.

Who are you?
Greg Watanabe

What are you?
Son, brother, partner, co-worker, community member...

Where are you?
Gardena, CA.

Where are you from?
Born in L.A., raised in Fullerton, CA, grew up some more in S.F./Bay Area, continuing to grow (old, if nothing else) in L.A.

What do you do?
I'm an actor.

What are you all about?
I guess I'd say I'm all about stories. To me, stories are connection and understanding. "This is happening to me. This is how I feel. Do you understand?" I feel like this is primal and essential.

What makes you angry?
Lack of empathy. I hate it when people or organizations like Glenn Beck, Fox News or Sarah Palin, foster misinformation and ignorance. I feel like they offer up scape goats for fears and uncertainties which they foment. This encourages a lack of empathy for immigrants, people of color, people with minority religious views...and I think that's a dangerous path. And what makes it even more galling, is they make so much money doing it. It's disgusting.
