The home improvement chain withdrew advertising after the conservative, anti-Muslim Florida Family Association accused the show of being "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values." It's dumbass, hateful nonsense, but Lowe's lacked any kind of spine to listen to reason and caved.
Several politicians, including California State Senator Ted Lieu and Congresswoman Judy Chu, Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, are condemning Lowe's actions: Lawmaker: Lowe's 'bigoted' for pulling 'All-American Muslim' ads. Here's Rep. Judy Chu's statement:
"I am deeply disappointed that Lowe's Home Improvement considers a reality show about peaceful American families a ‘lighting rod' for ‘strong political and societal views.' "All-American Muslim" is the type of programming that we should encourage because it shows how rich and diverse American life really is. Lowe's should understand that their customers come from all walks of life and a wide range of cultural backgrounds. As a corporate citizen, they should not condone the false and misguided narrative that Muslim-Americans are a threat to our country. To question the motives and patriotism of an entire group of Americans based solely on their religious beliefs is unfair, unjustified and un-American."And here's part of Ted Lieu's letter to Lowe's:
"Lowe's religious discrimination is the equivalent of a company asserting that it is pulling advertising from the Christian Broadcast Network's 700 Club because the program somehow 'riskily hides' the agenda of Christian radicalized groups such as Aryan Nation. That assertion would, of course, be utter nonsense and religious bigotry."The Asian American Center For Advancing Justice has also issued a statement condemning Lowe's withdrawal. Florida Family Association, you can suck it. Lowe's, you will not be getting any of my home improvement dollars. More here: Lowe's Boycott Has SoCal Roots After State Sen.
